As a member of the clinical advisory board to Polio Australia, Melissa participated in the production of the ‘Clinical Practice Guidelines for Health Professionals’ and she and the team have presented workshops around NSW, in conjunction with Rotary Australia, educating health and medical professionals on effective management of people living with Polio.
Much of our expertise in this area has been gained through helping patients as well as starting up the first Polio Mobility Clinic in NSW since the closure of public services in the eighties. The effects of polio on the ageing body are complex and mobility can often be on a knife edge if new weakness emerges or fatigue sets in. We’d like to help you.
