Brief Bio:
Dr Gurgius is a Pain Medicine Specialist, currently based in Tasmania.
Dr Gurgius obtained his primary medical degree from the University of Alexandria in Egypt. He then completed the Australian Medical Council Certificate. He subsequently obtained the Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, followed by the Fellowship in Advanced Rural General Practice. He lately obtained the Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine/ANZCA.
Dr Gurgius had undertaken additional training in Addiction Medicine. Additionally, Dr Gurgius has a specialist interest in the use of Medical Laser and Acupuncture in Pain Management.
Dr Gurgius did medical training in emergency medicine, mental health, rural general practice, pain medicine and addiction medicine in Australia. As such, Dr Gurgius is well qualified to provide a holistic care to his patients.
Dr Gurgius is happy to work with General Practitioners and other health professionals to manage complex pain presentations and comorbidities. Dr Gurgius can also offer Telehealth Consultations, together with the treating GP, as part of a team care arrangement.
Dr Gurgius is a current clinical lecturer in the University of Tasmania. He is also an examiner in the Australian Medical Council, the RACGP and Deakin University Medical School.
